About Me

An aesthetic image of the author

Hi, I'm Will and I'm the author of this somewhat sparse blog. I am a career network and systems administrator in the data center & cloud infrastructure space, with a background in network engineering and IT consulting. I entered the field in 2016 and since then I've spent a lot of time building out on-premise and cloud infrastructure for a number of companies, supporting web applications and back ends for large scale hardware deployments. I have a passion for building functional, reliable systems both at work and at home (including fun personal things like this blog).

The purpose of this blog

This is a semi-personal blog I started as a pet-project for documenting my time and growth in IT, whether it be processes I had to slog through myself because there was little existing information out there to follow, campfire stories pulled directly from my own work experience, or writeups on new technologies and devices I have experience with or that I'm currently learning.

As someone who's had the chance to work with so many companies in different industries using various technologies, as well as having coordinated with so many on-premesis IT teams, I wanted a place to collect my thoughts and opinions, and perhaps someone will stumble across a little tidbit from my blog that helps them out one day in the process. I can't even count how many times I myself have been immensely helped by a post on some rando's long-abandoned blog.
